We are opening an alternative school in September 2008. It will be located on our Tashirat premises, where we have the Learning Center and Orphanage. The school is for our own orphanage children, many of whom did not receive an adequate education in their formative years, and for outside children inhabiting the surrounding underprivileged communities.
Since we have experienced such huge personality transformations in our own orphanage children in these past five years, all of whom were abandoned, abused and/or from negligent impoverished homes, we would like to share our life experience by helping other children from similar backgrounds.
Government schools are notorious for being overcrowded and having a low academic standard. We are offering our school as an alternative for our children and hopefully many others, to combat the education problem in Mexico. Malnourishment is a widespread problem in underprivileged areas. The children’s poor concentration can often be traced to lack of nutrients or hunger. We will provide outside children in need with three meals a day. They will all have access to our facilities and afternoon activities.
Tashirat’s philosophy is that it is every child’s birthright to be provided with the basic necessities in life - a roof over his head, adequate clothing and hygiene, a full belly, a decent education and love. We are but a small international group consisting of eight full-time staff members, and although passionate about these beliefs, we can only contribute our grain of sand, which is a mere drop in the ocean. However, in this very small school of ours, we will provide the children with all of the above, including clothes and food, but we do not have the money or staff to provide homes for more than the twenty children that we already have in our Tashirat Orphanage. Nevertheless, all outside children will be provided with a good education and ample love and care. The more money we receive, and the more people willing to dedicate their time or lives to these children, the more lives we will be able to touch and transform.
Our goal in life is to help as many children as possible to become strong, healthy (physically, emotionally, mentally), well-integrated independent human beings. We wish to provide them with an education that will afford life skills, enabling them to follow their heart’s dream. We want to expose these children to everything they would never have been exposed to otherwise in life; to assist each child to discover his unique talents; to follow these talents, academic or otherwise, with passion, and thus find his niche in life. We wish to stimulate the children’s innate curiousity, which is all too frequently extinguished so young in life, by poor home environments or dull inadequate teachers and/or educational institutions; help them to overcome blocks and fears; encourage them to be creative, original and free-thinking. Our aim is to turn out fulfilled little human beings, who in turn will reach out and help others on their paths as they were helped.
Please help us to bring light, which is knowledge, into these children’s lives, dispelling darkness, which is ignorance and the cause of so much unnecessary suffering.
